Cirkus Bizurkus

Founder and Creative Director, Fernando Barraza, began his creative journey in the early '90s, working as an extra in legendary films such as The Matrix and Mission Impossible 2. But it was his time on Baz Luhrmann's masterpiece Moulin Rougethat truly inspired him to pursue a creative career. After a successful career as a celebrity stylist and photographer working in New York and London, Fernando returned to Australia and contributed to some of the country’s most iconic TV productions, including Australian IdolAustralia’s Got TalentX FactorAustralia’s Next Top Model, and The Face. It was during the launch of luxury hotels QT and The Darling that Fernando discovered a deep love for circus and live performance. When COVID-19 lockdowns hit in 2020, Fernando finally had the space to reimagine his next move. During that time, he rediscovered a deck he had created many years earlier for a concept called Cirkus Bizurkus — and it was a lightbulb moment. With the help of a City of Sydney grant, he brought the idea to life. Partnering with Home Nightclub, in bed @ Home: Cirkus Bizurkus was launched just in time for Mardi Gras 2021. As the world reopened, Cirkus Bizurkus found itself in a unique position to reignite live entertainment and create magic again. Soon, the company was collaborating with major brands such as Qantas, Porsche, Uber, Bloomberg, TikTok, and more. What began as a costume design and entertainment solution business has now evolved into a powerhouse of creative direction, live events, production, and even its own Cirkus Skool.Today, Cirkus Bizurkus continues to grow with boundless imagination and a passion for creating magical, unforgettable experiences for clients across Australia and beyond.
